My Love/Hate Relationship with Google

9 months. Yep ... 9 whole months since this poor blog was updated. And in that time frame, Google has decided to nix Google Reader which happens to be my 4th most used Big-G service (just shy of Gmail, GCal, and GVoice/Talk).  I started using Google Reader at a time when my employer filtered access to Bloglines (which is another post for another day...). For nearly 7 years now I've been a happy Google Reader user and was sad - shocked really - to hear that it would no longer be available.

I began looking into alternatives. I already use Flipboard on my iPhone and like it well enough in the mobile department, but I didn't like the desktop view and really wanted that desktop option. I think I've found it with Feedly!

For 1) Feedly seamlessly switches over your Google Reader feeds.
For 2) The view options are such that you can have it look very much like what Google Reader did; or you could change to a more visually appealing magazine or card look.
For 3) There's integration with Pinterest, Facebook, and ReadItLater for easy sharing of content.
For 4) There's an iPhone app available (though I'm still not quite sure I like it over Flipboard just yet...).

I'm sure there are many other RSS reader options available, but for now, Feedly works and I'm pretty pleased with it so far!
