Booking Through Thursday

Do you get on a roll when you read, so that one book leads to the next, which leads to the next, and so on and so on?

This is my first post for Booking Through Thursday and I'm hoping that this will be a regular thing here for me. I really liked the question this week so my response is this:

I tend to read in patterns. I really like the Mystery genre of fiction, and I will go through phases where that's all I read. I'll start with one author and go through a series and then go on to another author, etc... Lately though, I've been reading Harry Potter. I'm a late HP fan and because of these fun and exciting books, I am having a hard time finding fiction that grabs me like Harry Potter has done. So NOW...all I want to read is Harry Potter, but it's quite sad that I'm now on the 6th book and after the 7th, I know there's no more. *sigh

So now, I'm heading over to BTT and leaving my comment with this post and then I will enjoy reading through everyone's responses.

Happy Reading!

Chicken Casserole Review

Tonight was a recipe that would use up the last of the leftover chicken used for my Thanksgiving dressing. The recipe comes from Menus4Moms and wasn't too bad. Here's the recipe:

********************************************
Gobble Good Turkey Casserole

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 package onion soup mix
1 cup rice
1 1/2 cups milk
2-3 cups leftover turkey

Combine all ingredients in a large casserole dish. Bake covered 30-45 minutes at 350° until bubbly.

********************************************

For my taste, it was a bit too onion soupy. I could have probably made this with just the mushroom soup and rice and milk. Maybe adding a bit of cheese to it also. With these modifications I would definitely make it again.

And now for my foods:

Weigh-In Wednesday

Well, as promised last week when I gained those lovely 2 pounds...I LOST the week of Thanksgiving!!!! I honestly don't know how, but I'm excited to say that I'm down .4 of a pound. Not a full pound, but I'll take it! Now...in looking at The Tales From the Scales Blog, I'm seeing a lot of loosers this week. WTG everyone!!!

So, my goal for this week is to continue to stick to my menu (even though I didn't post it here) and to also come here and blog my foods like I had been doing. Later this evening after I eat dinner I will do that.

Happy Holidays!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Well...
Bad News....
I gained 2 pounds. I know exactly what happened, but still...it's hard to grasp the fact that I gained. I had been doing so well and then the ONE week that I decide to not write everything down...to not blog my foods...to not keep in touch with my email buddies...I gain. I ate too much for sure and didn't account for it.
Now...the plan for Thanksgiving week is this:
I'm going to be extra good and watch what I eat before Thanksgiving day. I am also going to eat what I want on Thanksgiving, but in portions! When I'm full...that's it. No more eating. I can do this...and I WILL lose weight this week!

So, even though I gained...it's not the end of the world and I'm moving on. See ya next week and Happy Thanksgiving!

The Holiday Season Is Upon Us!!

Hence the reason I haven't posted in almost a week! Preparations for Thanksgiving have begun and I can't wait. Here's what I'm bringing to our dinner with friends:
~ Cornbread Dressing (from scratch)
~ Broccoli Rice Casserole
~ Sausage Balls
~ Mashed Potatoes
I THINK that's everything...lol, but it's going to be a feast for sure!
***************
In other news, I've been knitting up a storm lately. I picked up a doily that I had stopped working on and have started knitting again on it. I'm also making bookmarks for some coworkers of mine who are Harry Potter fans.
***************
Tonight we're supposed to go have Lasagna with our friends C&L along with a test run of homemade rolls that are set to be made on Thursday. I can't wait!! I've been drinking a ton of water today to compensate my hunger and it's working!

I think that's it for now..and soon I'll get back to posting my foods again.

Weigh-In Wednesday

Yesterday was such a long day that I didn't get a chance to post my foods...and today I haven't got everything tallied up yet, so I'll have to do two posts. First though is weigh-in! Every week, Tales From the Scales puts up a mr. linky for everyone to weigh in. I have been with them for 3 weeks now I believe...and I'm doing well. Here are my stats:

THIS WEEK: loss of .04 pounds
TOTAL LOSS: 7.4 pounds!

It's getting easier as each week goes by. That's a really good thing...and I'm pleased with my progress so far. I have a lot to lose...and I don't think that my Christmas goal of being close to the 100s will be met, but that's ok. I'm still plugging along week after week and it's working. Slow and steady wins the race!

Menu Monday

Well, this past weekend was a busy one...and I just couldn't find the time to sit down and post. I did, however, keep up with what I ate, even though I didn't blog it. Saturday was spent going to Fort Wayne with Adam for dinner and his orchestra concert, and then Sunday was filled with church activities. Like I said...busy busy!

Now, for the past 3 weeks or so I've been posting my menu every Monday for the week. It has been a HUGE help and so a big Thank You goes out to Org Junkie for hosting the Menu Monday. For this week, not including tonight, here's what I plan to fix:

Tuesday: Spaghetti and garlic bread
Wednesday: Leftovers (since it's just the 2 of us)
Thursday: Chicken ring
Friday: leftovers

Fun Day-Off Friday

Today started off like every Friday for the past Month...Eva's Pancake Breakfast with Adam. We had some running around to do before we ate, but we did enjoy a nice breakfast together. It was the first time we were really able to do something together all week. Makes for a LONG week!
This afternoon was spent on the couch with the dog for some much needed relaxation. I think Dit appreciated our time together...
This evening I had the fun opportunity of baby sitting for a good friend. Isaac is 1 1/2 and is a bundle of fun! We had a blast but I'm pooped and ready for my nightly bubble bath!!

I've been VERY hungry today...but I think that's to be expected. Tired and hungry makes for a cranky day...but I tried to be in good spirits. I'm off for the evening to the bath, and tomorrow is more work.

Night with the Gals Thursday

Tonight, Lisa and Debbe and I decided to try a new place that has recently come to our town. Qdoba Mexican Grill is a trendy looking place that was quite tasty. MUCH better than Taco Bell, but not quite as good as our local authentic Mexican restaurant. Still, I would highly recommend Qdoba for the mexican food lover. I had a taco salad that was SO good and fresh. My friends both had borritos that were HUGE! I may try one of those next time. We had a great evening of chatting about anything and everything...and Debbe brought her son that was constant entertainment for us all. So, all around it was a great night...and now I'm snuggled in the chair with my heated blanket and Ditters and am watching my Thursday night shows (when I should be cleaning the kitchen).

Weigh-In Wednesday (-2)

Well...another week...and another weigh in is here! I am proud to say that I am down 2 pounds this week...woohoo and yay me! I started 2 weeks ago with you guys and last week I maintained, so total here since I've been with you is this lovely #2 number. This week I have been sick with a sore throat and am beginning to get the congestion...but my head feels like it wants to exploid with a horrible headache. Needless to say, I haven't added exercise yet because of this. All in due time. What really worked for me this past week was sticking to my menu that I had planned. This kept me on track and kept me from eating too many points. A success!

Monday Madness

Work today has been CRAZY! There was a constant stream of people in and out with a full lab the whole time. This makes for an up and down day of helping people...which I love to do, but I'm feeling under the weather. It started when I woke up this morning. Adam was sick all weekend so I knew it was inevitable...but that doesn't make it any easier. I've got the sore throat, the inflamed sinuses, and the lethargic feeling of wanting to sleep sleep sleep. I guess tonight will be an early night!
In other news, I saw on the weather forcast that we are supposed to have snow tomorrow evening. I'm not holding my breath for that since this IS Indiana...you never know what the weather will do! Still...it might be fun to have a little bit of snow...and I'll have to get the heated blanket down for the bed too. Brrrrrrr.
Yesterday (Sunday), Adam and I signed up to teach Junior Church for the month of November. What a treat that was! I loved it! The story we taught was on David and Goliath. Adam played Goliath...the big giant...and a little guy that comes played David. We had a ton of fun acting it out and playing with the sling shot and rocks. The kids really seemed to be having a good time and I think they will remember this story!
That's it for today, but here are my foods:

Sleepy Saturday

Sleepy Saturday! That is the understatement of today...although I really love this weekend because I gain an hour of sleep!! So maybe next week I won't be so sleepy...:)
The photo you see is of a movie I watched today. It was a really heart warming story and a good clean movie...you don't find that everyday. It's one of those that make you want to go out and help someone. If you haven't seen it...I highly recommend it. If you have seen it...what did you think?
As for my foods for today...it was leftovers, leftovers, and more leftovers. It was really good though so I don't mind.

Food Friday

Each friday for the past month or so, Adam and I have been eating breakfast...brunch rather...at a local pancake house. Their breakfast is the best I have ever had...and I've been saving my points for it! We ate today around 11:30 or so and I wasn't hungry until 9pm tonight.
In other news, I spent today working on my living room. We have upgraded some electronics of ours and we now don't have a VHS player. We're fully DVD with our new tv. SO, I took the liberty today to go through and purge all of the VHS tapes we have...with the exception of our wedding...and I am donating them all to Goodwill.
That's it for now...until tomorrow

TV Thursday

Right now I have just finished eating dinner and I want more bread! I had the points, but what person...in their right mind...needs 3 rolls? And what person...in their right mind...after eating 3 rolls wants more? The husband isn't home tonight and so I made the whole can of crescent rolls...and 5 more are left! calling my name left! *sigh
In other news...tonight is my favorite TV night of the week. I have 3 shows that I watch:
Grey's Anatomy
CSI (the original)
ER
The really good thing that I have found though is that if you miss an episode, there are online full episodes to view. That makes me a happy camper for sure!
